About the Journal

The Hannah Arendt Institute for Totalitarianism Studies (HAIT) at Dresden University of Technology (TUD) informs about its activities in the areas of research, university education, and transfer since 2003. From 2024 on, the Annual Report will be published in open access via SLUB Dresden. Apart from reports on the various areas, the Annual Report contains short topical contributions which give an impression of the ongoing research work of the HAIT's staff. Additionally, selected media appearances (interviews, newspaper articles) are offered as reprints. In overviews, the report provides documentation on the institute's staff, the events, lectures, and media appearances of its researchers and the publications at and by the HAIT.

Information on more recent activities at the Institute can be found on its web page

Open Acces

The HAIT Annual Report provides immediate open access to all content by the principle that making research results freely available to the public promotes the global exchange of knowledge. Named authors retain the copyright to their published work. Unless otherwise stated, all contributions in the annual report are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license. The published contributions may be used freely under the terms of the license, provided that the authors are appropriately credited. There is no exclusive transfer of exploitation rights (“copyright transfer”) to the annual report. The HAIT Annual Report is published as a Diamond Open Access journal. It does not charge the authors any costs for publication (so-called Article Processing Charges, APC) or submission (so-called Submission Charges). At the same time, no subscription fees are charged to readers. The metadata of the published works are published under a CC0 public domain dedication.

Archiving

All articles and PDFs are long-term identifiable by DOIs. The Annual Report HAIT is also archived by the German National Library, including all full-text PDFs.

Sponsorship declaration

The HAIT annual report and its website do not include commercial advertising. The costs for DOI and web hosting are covered by the SLUB Dresden. The editing and production of the annual report is carried out at the HAIT as part of its duties. This measure is financed by the Saxon State government out of the State budget approved by the Saxon State Parliament.
